Freshwater Carp Farming

ICAR- Krishi Vigyan Kendra, a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University organized three days NABARD sponsored training program on Freshwater Carp Farming under Farm Sector Promotion fund -Capacity building for adoption of Technology from 12.07.2023 to 14.07.2023. Dr. A. Gopalakannan, Programme Coordinator welcomed the participants of the training programme. Dr. M. Rajakumar, Director of Extension Education inaugurated and presided over the training programme. Mr. E. Hino Fernando, SMS (Fisheries Extension) delivered a lecture on overall status and current scenario of Freshwater Carp farming in India with special reference to Tamil Nadu.  Farmers were delivered lectures with experts on various aspects like Site selection, Pond construction, stocking, rearing, feeding, water quality and disease management of Carps. Farmers were given field demonstration on carp farming at Aravind Fish Farm, Manargudi. 25 farmers from Nagapattinam and neighboring districts participated and benefitted from the training programme. Certificates were distributed to the trainees.
